If you’re interested in hiring an apprentice for your business, you still have time to access the government funded ‘Kickstart Scheme’, which will cover:
- 100% of a workers National Living or Minimum wage for a total of 25 hours a week for up to 6 months.
- Associated employer NICs
- Employer’s minimum automatic enrolment contributions
The scheme is crucial at a time like now where employers are finding it difficult to fill roles.
Whilst the scheme was extended until March 2022, the deadline for applications for this scheme is fast approaching, and closes on the 17th December 2021.
It has been reminded that the job placement that you create should not replace an existing or planned vacancy, or cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose work or have their working hours reduced.
However, whilst this scheme is soon to come to an end, the Government will continue to offer Apprenticeship incentive payments of a total of £3,000 (this is in addition to the initial £1,000 employers already receive when they hire an apprentice), which employers will receive if they take on new apprentices up until January 2022.
